Water Water everywhere but not a nano-plastic free bottle to drink from!! Or is there?

We all know that single use plastics is simply wrong. Yet, how wrong is it?

500 billion plastic bottles being absorbed by the eco-system each year is hard to even comprehend.

Canadian hotels throw out on average 100,000 plastic bottles per 100 rooms.  And while most recycle, the reality is that 94% of these bottles end up in landfill or the world’s oceans.

Now there is more bad news concerning plastic bottles. This time, it is personal. https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/08/health/bottled-water-nanoplastics-study-wellness/index.html

We are absorbing nano-plastics into our bodies each time we drink water from a plastic bottle.

The brutal fact is that some of these forever plastics remain in our bodies permanently.

While nano-plastics can also be absorbed through the food we eat and the air we breath, the toxic effects on human health are significant.

Now the good news.

As a hotel industry and community, we can stem the tide and initiate changes that can have profound positive effects.

Did you know that over 70% of all aluminum in Canada is recycled.

And if every hotel and motel in Canada stopped giving out and selling water in plastic bottles, this would mean that as many as 300 million bottles would be removed from our landfill each year.  In the 3 years, that is a billion bottles!.
